I'll start with a less attacking one.  Why do people become addicted to drugs?The imagination of being in a more comfortable state. Eventually it harms. Yes or no? Very similarly, human brain always wants to make tasks done easier. For this it uses our imagination. We imagine a more comfortable state and invent tools to make things easier.
